The South is not only a place. It is an offering. An offering of movement wisdom. A witness to what becomes possible when communities choose to protect one another anyway.

At the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation, narrative and storytelling are part of how power is built, how communities remember themselves, and how we advance racial equity and social and economic justice across the South. We invest in organizations that are cultivating care, solidarity, and collective power in the face of growing attacks on dignity and democracy.

In this series, we spotlight three of these organizations. Education Justice Alliance, Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition and HousingNOLA operate with the belief that when systems are shaped by justice, care, and participation, there is enough dignity, belonging, and possibility for all of us. Their stories are evidence of radical imagination driving action.
